Press release: Pet Food Express

Pet Food Express hosted its annual holiday fundraiser, The Giving Tree, during the month of December at all 62 of its stores in California. The Giving Tree started at Pet Food Express in 2010, and this year the total cumulative monetary donations surpassed $1.2 million!

Customers participated at all Pet Food Express stores during the month of December. All they had to do was donate any of the shelter-approved pet toys and treats, and Pet Food Express gave them 20 percent off the donated item. Among the approved toys/treats: Bixbi Picket Trainer dog treats, Open Farm dog treats, Kong toys, Orbee toys and Cat Sushi. In addition, Pet Food Express accepted monetary donations. 100 percent of the donated money and products go directly to our 200+ pet rescue and shelter partners throughout California.

In December:

  • Pet Food Express customers raised $185,838 in monetary donations
  • Pet Food Express customers donated 21,584 toys and treats

The holidays are often the busiest time of year for shelters. Animal experts say that it’s very stressful on animals to be in the shelter and having something to chew on can help reduce stress.

“Homeless animals need your help all year long,” says Michael Levy, founder of Pet Food Express. “And we feel the holidays are an especially great time to provide toys and treats to homeless pets in our communities. We are particularly proud to partner with more than 200 pet rescues and shelters throughout the state for our Giving Tree fundraiser.”
