Oxbow Animal Health, an international provider of ultra-premium pet products for small and exotic animals, has announced it will relocate its operations to a new facility in Papillion, Nebraska, in 2017.

The facility, which will house product production, warehouse, hay storage and offices, will encompass 247,000 square feet of space in Papillion, a growing community on the outskirts of Omaha, Nebraska. Papillion is located less than 30 miles from the company’s current home in Murdock, Nebraska.

“Oxbow has grown rapidly over the past several years,” said Deb Buhro, Oxbow CEO. “Relocating operations provides us with an opportunity to evolve our good manufacturing practices while we continue to meet—and exceed—regulatory and compliance requirements.”

Oxbow was founded by John Miller in 1980 on his family’s farm as a hay production company. Since then, the company has grown to include the production and distribution of ultra-premium hays, fortified foods, supplements and treats, and accessories and care items.

“Our new facility supports Oxbow’s ongoing commitment to innovation,” Buhro said. “From our product development team to our production practices, this organization was built on our founding principle of doing the right things in the right ways, and with an eye toward future growth.”Oxbow

Oxbow will move its 150-person workforce to the new facility through a phased approach beginning this fall. The company anticipates growing its workforce to 200 over the next five years.

Oxbow will maintain its focus on company culture in the new facility, with amenities such as community fellowship areas, spacious cafeteria and break spaces, and many formal and informal meeting and innovation spaces. Additional features, such as air quality and temperature control in production areas, will provide infrastructural improvements.

Oxbow’s director of Veterinary Science and Outreach, Dr. Micah Kohles, says the facility’s dedicated product quality laboratory supports the company’s commitment to providing for the better care and nutrition of animals globally.

“Oxbow has always placed great emphasis on being at the forefront of product innovation and nutrition,” Dr. Kohles said. “Having a new, enhanced space in which to focus on product quality will make us an even stronger partner to pet parents, industry peers and the veterinary community.”
