ökocat Litter Donation Program Supports Shelters, Rescues in Need

ökocat recently announced its winners for this year’s ökocause4paws Litter Donation Program.

From the nominations that it received, the brand selected deserving shelters throughout the U.S. and Canada to receive a donation of free next generation plant- and paper-based cat litter.

This year,  ökocat switched its focus from awarding a single shelter a pallet of litter to donating 20-30 boxes of ökocat litter to eight small shelters. By donating litter to smaller shelters, there will be a greater impact for these shelters and cats who may not have access to the same resources as larger shelters in the area.

Since its creation in 2018, ökocause4paws has donated 25,000 pounds of ökocat litter to shelters in need. A list of this year’s winning shelters is below.

• Wild Whiskers Inn – Buffalo, New York
• Love your Feral Felines – Vista, California
• Rapp Cats – Washington, Virginia
• St. Cats and Dogs – Scranton, Pennsylvania
• Happy Tails Rescue – Hudson, New Hampshire
• Field Haven Cat Sanctuary – Lincoln, California
• HALO Rescue – Phoenix, Arizona

ökocat has donated over 21,000 pounds of ökocat natural litter to chosen shelters in eco-friendly cities across the country, with thousands of cats receiving free ökocat litter through the ökocause4paws program since it started in 2018.

“We want to honor and give back to the shelters and rescues that have helped give countless cats a new life, and September’s Happy Cat Month is the perfect time to do it,” said Leslie Ellis, ökocat’s consumer communications manager. “This year, our focus is on awarding litter to smaller shelters that likely have less resources and a greater need and might not typically receive donations. We want to hear from all our öko-fans – tell us about the rescues out there that have gone above and beyond to support our feline friends!”
