An NHL player changed the life on one lucky puppy last week.

During the week of October 16, the New York Islanders held a photo shoot with adoptable puppies from the North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization.

On the same day the photos were taken, good news came for one of the puppies. Defenseman Calvin de Haan and his girlfriend visited the shelter in the evening and adopted the same puppy he took pictures with earlier in the day, according to the New York Islanders.

The photos will be used for a team calendar in hopes of raising awareness of animal adoption, and the calendars will go on sale at Islanders game in late November. More photos from the photo shoot can be seen throughout the Islanders’s social media pages.
