National Distributor Rebrands to Pet Palette Distribution After Banner Year

Pet Palette, a national distributor of premium pet products, recently announced that the company has changed its name to Pet Palette Distribution, effective immediately. This rebranding reflects the company’s growing prominence in the industry and its ambitious vision for the future. The ownership and management team of Pet Palette Distribution remains unchanged.

Along with the name change, Pet Palette Distribution has unveiled a new company logo and slogan. The slogan, which reads, “On-trend. On time. On your side.” represents the unique value that the company provides as a fast, service-oriented distributor with a variety of top-tier retail products.

“We know that independent pet retailers have a lot of options when it comes to selecting a distributor, and we are committed to being the best partner for them for years to come,” said Pet Palette Distribution president and COO Ron Metzger, who has more than 40 years of experience in retail and distribution management.

“We’ve spent the last year finessing our processes, investing in our personnel, and restructuring the entire company so that it operates more efficiently, and with our retail customers and product vendors in mind. The name change may seem like a small thing, but it represents countless hours of work that we have put in, and also our commitment to the future of the company.”

Top Brands and Unique Products

Pet Palette Distribution has long been a destination for novelty and seasonal products, from charming collar accessories to the latest and greatest toy and treat offerings. In recent years, the company has updated their product mix to include top brands like Outward Hound, Treat Planet, and hemp products from Pet Releaf.

In 2022, Pet Palette Distribution will continue to offer these brands and new additions, including SodaPup, Plato and Snugarooz, as well as a few other surprises.

“At Pet Palette Distribution, we spend hundreds of hours each year looking at the offerings of new and existing vendors, and hand-picking products we know will be well-received on retail shelves. Our goal is to make it easy for retail customers to order and receive shipments, and to provide reassurance that their orders will sell quickly and at a high margin,” said Pet Palette Distribution’s senior buyer Megan Hulse, who has 13 years of experience as a buyer.

Smart Inventory Practices and FedEx Delivery

One unique aspect of Pet Palette Distribution’s operations is that, unlike many other national distributors, they ship via FedEx, rather than their own fleet of trucks. They also have an ambitious buying strategy, which led to fill rates in the mid-90%, even as supply chain issues impacted the rest of the industry.

“Because of our strong relationship with FedEx, we have secured low shipping rates that we pass directly back to our customers,” said Metzger. “While other companies increased their shipping and order minimums due to supply chain issues and labor shortages, we were able to drop our minimum orders and free shipping minimums.”

The company’s minimum order requirements — $99 order minimum and free shipping minimum of $349 — will continue in 2022.

Big-Hearted Industry Experts

Starting in 2020, Pet Palette Distribution has been growing its team, with a clear focus on hiring specialists across all fields.

“From marketing to buying, operations to accounting and customer service, the Pet Palette Distribution team is now entirely composed of professionals with deep expertise and training,” said Marina Pantilus, the company’s controller. Pantilus has a bachelor’s degree in accounting as well as more than 10 years of experience in similar roles and is currently pursuing her master’s degree.

The intent of this hiring practice is to allow both product manufacturers and retail customers to view Pet Palette Distribution as a trusted resource and business partner. In 2022, the company plans to offer more retail assistance, including recommendations for visual merchandising, help with single resale certificates, and information on the products with high margins and fast-rising popularity.
