Merck Animal Health Awards Scholarships to Veterinary Students

Since 2013, Merck Animal Health has partnered with the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) to provide scholarship aid to hundreds of veterinary students. Through this partnership, in 2020, we are pleased to announce that 54 veterinary students from around the world received scholarships through the Merck Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Program. The selected second- and third-year students pursuing careers in companion animal or large animal medicine will each receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their educational endeavors.

“Whether they’re helping to keep pets healthy or aid in ensuring a safe, high-quality protein supply, veterinarians play a critical role not only within the animal health industry, but also within society,” said Scott Bormann, senior vice president, North America, Merck Animal Health. “As part of our ongoing commitment to the veterinary profession, those of us at Merck Animal Health are proud to support these students in their educational pursuits and look forward to the impact they will make to help us advance The Science of Healthier Animals.”

The AVMF, the charitable arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), has supported veterinary students for more than five decades.

“The American Veterinary Medical Foundation is proud to partner again this year with Merck Animal Health in recognizing exceptional veterinary students through much-needed educational scholarships,” said Dr. Karen Davis, chair, AVMF Board of Advisors. “Merck Animal Health’s generous commitment provides financial assistance to students for use in the pursuit of educational and professional goals and opportunities. Congratulations to the outstanding 54 scholarship recipients and thank you to Merck Animal Health for its continued support of students and the veterinary profession.”

Award recipients from U.S. and international veterinary schools accredited through the AVMA were selected based on academic excellence, financial need, leadership and area of interest within the profession. The scholarship recipients are:
