Halo Holistic Garden of Vegan for Dogs Wins Prestigious Award

November 5, 2018

Press release: Halo

Halo Holistic Garden of Vegan won the prestigious 2018 VegNews “Best Dog Food” Award for its non-GMO complete and balanced diet that is ideal for vegan households or dogs with protein sensitivities.  The VegNews Veggie Awards, the largest survey of vegan products in the world had a record-breaking 2.1 million votes this year.

“We are honored to have Halo Garden of Vegan Dog Food recognized by VegNews and its highly food conscious community,” said Myron Lyskanycz, CEO for Halo. “Vegan is our fastest growing category of pet food and this award is a testament to pet parents who feed their dogs a vegan diet for its high-quality whole-food ingredients and because their dogs thrive on this delicious complete and balanced food. It’s also a great alternative for the many dogs with meat, dairy, corn or wheat sensitivities.”

Halo Garden of Vegan does not contain any meat, poultry, or fish or any common allergens such as wheat, corn, dairy, or rice. This complete, daily, vegan diet for dogs nourishes them with protein-rich plant-based ingredients like peas, chickpeas, pearled barley and oats. Halo offers both dry and wet food, as well as vegan treats.

“Halo is a leader in the plant-based industry and continues to develop stellar vegan products. We are pleased to honor your accomplishments with a 2018 Veggie Award,” says VegNews Publisher Colleen Holland.

The VegNews Veggie Awards recognize excellence in the plant-based industry. VegNews readers submit their ballots online during the month of August, and winners are announced in the November+December Holiday edition of the magazine. The annual celebration of the best that veg living has to offer has become one of the most popular features in the publication. The issue is available on newsstands everywhere beginning November 1.

Past Veggie Award winners in other categories include: Ben & Jerry’s, Naked Juice, Sabra, Stella McCartney, Ellen DeGeneres, Farm Sanctuary, Daiya, Vegenaise and LaraBar.

Many dog parents feed their dogs vegan either because they wish to extend their own vegan lifestyle to that of their companion animal, or because their dogs are experiencing allergic reactions to common meat based dog food recipes. If dogs switched to eating vegan just one day a week, it would have the same environmental impact as taking almost 1 million cars off the road a year.
