The term “leader” often conjures specific images, many of them associated with prominence. But many leaders work behind the scenes—in product design meetings, among the aisles of an independent retail store, and everywhere in between. Leadership is exhibited at every level of a business, within groups large and small. And no matter where—or from whom—important contributions originate, they have the potential to push the industry forward, changing the market directly but also inspiring others to be innovative. These individuals are invaluable to the growth of our community.

With this recognition series, Pet Age seeks to honor those unsung heroes. The Vanguard Series will highlight individuals throughout the organizational chart who have been at the forefront of significant breakthroughs in the pet industry within the last 12 months. They need not be executives; the ideal candidate is typically working in the trenches of the industry, operating day-to-day on the ground to disrupt the status quo. In Pet Age’s Vanguard series, those behind the scenes are recognized for the mark they’ve left on the pet industry.

The call for nominations for Pet Age’s Inaugural Vanguard Series is now open, and we are excited to present the opportunity for individuals to nominate themselves or a contemporary.
