Jiminy’s Wins Bark Your Biz ‘Best Barker’ Honors

Bark Your Biz, the only pet business entrepreneur competition, presented a live program at the Pet Connections Expo early October. The hour-long program featured four entrepreneurs pitching their brands and products for the hosts and a panel of industry experts. The competition was spirited, and the audience enjoyed watching the interplay between the entrepreneurs, hosts, and panelists. Based on the criteria of Presentation, Product, and Market Potential, the hosts and panelists scored the pitches.

The result was that the Best Barker Award honors went to Anne Carlson, the Founder and CEO of Jiminy’s, a new line of dog treats made with crickets as the core protein. Carlson presented the nutritional benefits of crickets for carnivores as well as the eco-friendly advantages of utilizing crickets instead of traditional protein such as beef, chicken, and lamb.

The victory gives Jiminy’s bragging rights, as well as a $500 voucher towards a booth at next year’s Pet Connections Expo, and three hours of consulting with the expert panelists.

We refer to Bark Your Biz as the “Tank Without Sharks” because we offer the opportunity for entrepreneurs to practice their pitch without the pressure of investors deciding their future. Unlike other entrepreneur TV shows, Bark Your Biz incorporates the element of competition among the presenters on each show, known as “Barkers.”
