Press release: Andis Company

Andis Company, an industry leader in animal grooming tools and education, recently announced two new professional grooming experts joining the Andis Animal Education team. Phil Shafmayer (USA) and Joyce Oliveira (Brazil) join Andis’ elite group of grooming specialists who bring world-class expertise to the company’s mission of providing animal grooming education resources globally.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the extensive talent and experience of our two new Educators to the Andis team,” said Nicole Kallish, Global Education Manager for Andis Animal. “Expanding educational access for groomers all over the world is a top priority for us and Philip and Joyce are going to be great assets in the Andis community.”

Andis_Phil_HeadshotPhilip Schafmayer NCMG has been a professional pet stylist since 1997 as well as a Professional All Breed AKC Handler for over 18 years, successfully campaigning some of the top dogs in the country in various breeds. He worked as the former Director of Canine Clippers School of Dog Grooming in Dumfries, VA and has become a Certified Master Groomer with NDGAA. His other accolades include Best in Show and Best All Around Groomer at NEPGP 2017—his very first competition—as well as the same award at NEPGP in 2018. Additionally, Philip made the GroomTeam USA Top 10 in 2017 and 2018, earning him the spot of GroomTeam USA World Travel Team alternate. 2019 was Philip’s first full year competing, during which he finished as #1 groomer in GroomTeam USA points as well as Barkleigh’s Groomer of the Year.

Since beginning her grooming career in 2005, Joyce Oliveira has consistently sought out courses, workshops and specialty seminars to further her expertise. In 2010, she opened her own grooming salon and in 2016, participated in her first grooming competition—the Japanese Grooming category at Groom Brasil—where she earned first place. Joyce was later awarded the prestigious Shirley Kalstone award in 2018, which honored her growth, education and camaraderie in the grooming industry on an international level. In 2019, Joyce was named Groomer Reference Hydra by Pet Society. Today, Joyce is a member of the International Groomer Association and has worked as a Master Groom Brazil judge for two years.
