The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) has added a new member to its strategic advisory board. Camelle Kent, CEO of WellPet brands, including the Wellness, Sojos, WHIMZEES, Old Mother Hubbard, Eagle Pack and Holistic Select brands, accepted a three-year term to help strategically support PSC’s mission to accelerate pet businesses through environmental and social impact.

With growing influence in the pet industry, prior professional experience with sustainability icon Timberland, and a personal passion for holistic business leadership, the position was a natural fit.

“I am both honored and excited to join the Pet Sustainability Coalition advisory board to collaborate with colleagues in the pet industry to expand the number of companies that are taking advantage of what PSC has to offer: education, inspiration, and business tools,” said Camelle Kent, CEO of WellPet.

Kent’s commitment to sustainable business practices doesn’t stop at her new leadership position. Kent has also pledged that her brands will begin working with PSC’s team in 2018 to meet the growing demands of consumers for businesses to address the environmental and social concerns seen in the media on a daily basis.

“At WellPet, we have always been committed to taking care of not only the pets that depend on us, but the environment we call home. I’m proud to say that we were the first U.S.-based pet food company to partner with TerraCycle, which provides pet parents with the means to recycle their pet food packaging, and we operate a zero-waste facility in the Netherlands, where we produce WHIMZEES natural dental chews for dogs,” Kent said. “Beyond these efforts, there is more that we can and should do to create a more sustainable business, and we look forward to working hand-in-hand with PSC to become even better stewards of the planet.”
