Wag N’ Wash Natural Food & Bakery Set for Texas Expansion

Wag N’ Wash Food & Bakery, a full-line specialty retail destination for cats and dogs that prides itself on having created a community for pet enthusiasts to come and be pet people, is coming to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The 4,800-square-foot store, located at 9138 North Tarrant Parkway in North Richland Hills, Texas, is slated to open in September and will be the first of eight to 10 locations that Wag N’ Wash hopes to open throughout the DFW Metroplex over the next several years.

“At Wag N’ Wash, we understand that your cats and dogs are more than just pets, they are cherished members of the family,” said Carol Tanner, a retired nurse who will own and operate the North Richland Hills store with her husband, Carl, a retired combat veteran who spent 26 years in the United States Navy. “We’re excited and proud to provide local pet owners with a store where they can wash ’em, feed ’em and spoil ’em, all in one cool place!”

While the Tanners acknowledge other pet-centric stores in the area, they believe Wag N’ Wash has a unique combination of offerings not found in the area.

“There are a lot of other great pet food stores in the area,” Carl Tanner said. “They do a fantastic job, they’re very well educated, have a great staff, but they don’t have the self-wash, or they don’t have the bakery, or they don’t have the full service grooming. What sets us apart is we’re an all-in-one.”

The average investment to own and operate a Wag N’ Wash 3,500-4,200 square foot store is approximately $638,329. This includes the franchise fee of $40,000, build-out costs, training expenses, the first three months of rent, furniture, signage, computer equipment, inventory and supplies, initial advertising and grand opening costs. Three- and five-unit agreements are also available to select and qualifying candidates.

Today, there are 13 Wag N’ Wash locations throughout Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Jersey, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington.
