Press release: Westminster Kennel Club

The iconic Westminster Kennel Club is proud to announce its partnership with Embark, innovator of the leading DNA test for canine breed health and identification for mixed breeds. Embark Dog DNA Tests use a research-grade DNA genotyping platform, a powerful tool for responsible dog breeders dedicated to healthy breeding programs.

“The Westminster Kennel Club is excited to partner with Embark as this collaboration enables our organization to continue its mission of promoting canine health research to produce the next generation of healthy companions and contribute to dog breed preservation,” said Westminster Kennel Club President Charlton Reynders, III. The owners and breeders involved in dog sports historically have been one of the largest financial supporters of purebred dog health research through national breed clubs, all-breed clubs, and individual donations to canine health research organizations.

“We are thrilled to be partnered with The Westminster Kennel Club. Embark brings the scientific innovation and customer loyalty to advance Westminster’s longstanding commitment to promoting healthy dogs. As both organizations care deeply about dogs, and are the leaders in their field, this partnership fits perfectly,” said Co-founder and CEO of Embark Ryan Boyko. “We are looking forward to working together and creating a healthier future for all dogs.”

In addition to supporting responsible breeders, an Embark Dog DNA Test enables a mixed-breed dog owner to learn about their dog’s breed ancestry, health, and more with a simple cheek swab. Embark identifies more than 250 dog breeds in mixed-breed dogs and more than 175 genetic health conditions and traits in purebred and mixed breed dogs.
