Platinum Pets employees, their friends and family members donned running shoes Memorial Day weekend to raise money for Northwest Battle Buddies, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans by giving them service dogs.

The Platinum Pets team joined hundreds of other walkers and runners participating in the Run to Remember, where Northwest Battle Buddies was the primary beneficiary.

“We had a great day raising money for a wonderful cause,” said Kate Jones, Platinum Pets president. “Platinum Pets is honored to support Battle Buddies and the tremendous job the organization does by helping our veterans overcome post-traumatic stress disorder by pairing them with a loving service dog.”

Shannon Walker, the daughter of a Korean War veteran and trainer of service dogs, founded Northwest Battle Buddies in 2011 after watching an Iraqi war veteran respond to the training Walker provided to him and his furry companion. The Battle Ground, Washington, organization provides dogs to veterans throughout the country.
