In a statement from Chair Peach Read, President and CEO Mike Bober, and Aquatics Committee Chair Sandy Moore, PIJAC offered insight and resources in light of the impending release of Pixar’s “Finding Dory” film.

The release of the movie has placed the pet industry in the spotlight, which PIJAC stated is a new opportunity to “engage the general public on a greater scale.”

In the coming months, PIJAC hopes to focus on educating newcomers to aquatics about responsible fishkeeping and helping to set them up for success by guiding them to appropriate starter tanks and fish. The organization also aims to start a conversation about the ways the industry works with “partners like the federal government and international organizations to promote responsible habits and attitudes toward fishkeeping and environmental protection.”

PIJAC and the Pet Leadership Council have developed materials to help retailers and other pet professionals aid these efforts. They are available in a downloadable PDF at www.pijac.org or the new PLC-sponsored website www.happyhealthyfish.pet.
