Representatives from Petco and the Pet Industry Sustainability Coalition (PISC) will speak on sustainability at Informa Exhibitions’ annual Petfood & Animal Nutrition 2.0 event, taking place from October 20 to 21 at the Hilton Chicago Downtown.

Environmental and social issues related to providing quality pet food that both nourishes healthy pets and positions the industry to act as responsible stewards of our natural resources is a hot topic for both consumers and brands.

Petco’s Jim Thomas, vice president of sustainability, safety, environment, risk, ethics and compliance, and Sara Snedeker, project manager, PISC, will speak on the topic during the session “Sustainability: Start Somewhere.”

“Brand holders and pet owners are becoming increasingly concerned about sustainability, so organizations such as PISC are serving a vital role in providing the pet-product community with business-minded tools to advance eco-friendly practices,” said Karen Butler, editor-in-chief of Petfood & Animal Nutrition 2.0. “We’re excited to have Petco’s Jim Thomas and PISC’s Sara Snedeker discuss the retailer’s environmental-improvement efforts.”
