The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), dedicated to the acceleration of environmental and social sustainability in the pet industry, helped member companies stand out in the crowd at this year’s Global Pet Expo with their second Green Paw Program.

Developed to acknowledge companies that are taking steps toward a sustainable future, the Green Paw Program saw a 32 percent increase in participation over 2015.

In order to participate in the Green Paw Program, each member company must complete the PSC Quick Impact Assessment. The assessment was developed in partnership with nonprofit B-Lab to provide members insight into how they can improve their sustainability practices.

Once approved, participating members could be identified throughout the trade show by the large green paw print proudly displayed at the entrances to their booths.

2016’s list of participants included Barkworthies,, Annamaet, Piscine Energetics, Worldwise, Mammoth, Doggles, Healthy Pet, R2P Pet, West Paw Design, Pet Age, Outward Hound, Cardinal, Fibercore, Planet Dog, Kurgo, KONG, Earthbath, True Dog, Kinn, Fluff & Tuff, Company of Animals, Molly Mua, In Clover, Pura Naturals and Himalayan.

By participating, companies acknowledge their own sustainable progress and align publicly with other likeminded companies while increasing awareness of the sustainability movement within the industry.

“We are extremely excited about the momentum the Green Paw Program is gaining,” said Caitlyn Bolton, PSC’s executive director. “We believe it is an effective way for members to showcase the work they are doing around environmental and social sustainability, and we expect our program at Superzoo in August to be even more successful.”
