Nearly three decades after first setting up shop in suburban Detroit, Pet Supplies Plus has opened its 400th store this May in Coconut Creek, Florida. This marks the 15th store opening this year for the largest pet franchise in the country, with another 40 expected before the end of the year.

The company celebrated its 400th opening when it opened its doors May 19 at its new Coconut Creek location. Grand opening festivities will be held June 3-4.

Driven by people across the United States consistently seeking ways to improve their pets’ lives and treating them as true members of the family, consumer spending in the pet industry has skyrocketed to an estimated $69 billion in 2017. Pet Supplies Plus is catering to the rising number of pet parents by offering high-quality, all-natural pet foods, treats and products at all 400 of its locations across 31 states.

“The 400th opening of Pet Supplies Plus not only shows our year after year company success, but also how the pet industry has no signs of slowing down,” Pet Supplies Plus CEO Chris Rowland said. “We have every intention of continuing to serve neighborhoods all over the country with our high-quality products and impeccable customer service for years to come.”Pet Supplies Plus 2

Coming off a successful 2016 that featured 75 franchise agreements, Pet Supplies Plus has already expanded into new states in the last six months, including California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa. Founded in 1988 on the idea that convenient, quality service for busy neighbors was lacking in the pet industry, the pet retail store is now expecting to reach 500 stores in the back half of 2018.

Pet Supplies Plus is focused on continued expansion in neighborhoods all over the country while also actively seeking qualified franchise partners to develop its presence in Florida, Houston, Atlanta, Virginia, New England, New York, California and the Northwest region, primarily Oregon and Washington.

“We offer premium products, knowledgeable staff and a special focus on personally connecting with pets and pet parents at every one of our stores,” said David Leonardo, senior vice president for Franchising at Pet Supplies Plus. “Our consistent year-over-year success proves that our hyper-local business model is an overwhelming success and we are looking forward to growing quickly in local communities everywhere.”
