Pawluxury, a manufacturer of wholesome chews and treats, has donated 20 pallets of rawhide, equaling a retail value of $59,000, to rescue dogs affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The company, based out of Richmond, Virginia, sent these donations to Texas and Florida shelters in the heart of the destruction.

“At Pawluxury, we see our dogs as an essential part of our modern-day families. We even put our own office pups on our packaging because we feel that these furry family members are what truly drive our business. Our hearts were broken when we saw so many dogs, just like our own, faced with stress and devastation brought on by these storms. Though, the hurricanes have passed, these dogs are still in need of shelter, support, and comfort. We wanted to provide any aid we could for these affected shelters,” says Scott Nielsen, VP of Sales at Pawluxury. “We hope this rawhide brings comfort to the rescue dogs in distress, and we thank the volunteers who devoted countless hours to keeping animals safe during these crises.”

Two shelters received these generous rawhide donations: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions in Houston, Texas, and First Coast No Homeless Pets in Jacksonville, Florida. Both shelters, despite any damage they suffered, opened their doors to many displaced pets that are being held until they can be reunited with their families, while still tending to the needy animals they had been caring for before the storms. With this donation, over 200,000 dogs will receive a bone to chew for comfort and stress relief after riding out these natural disasters.
