Backer Hosts Rock and Roll Party
People emulating mid-century icons ranging from Marilyn Monroe to Elvis Presley mingled with hundreds of their peers at a 1950s and ’60s theme party co-sponsored by PET AGE and its parent company, H.H. Backer Associates Inc. (Chicago).
The best-dressed partiers received cash prizes in a contest judged by Colette Fairchild and Christine Farrell Nowinski of H.H. Backer Associates, and Stephen Cogar, senior associate editor of PET AGE.
• Danny and Amy Cox of Windmill Hill Pet Resort (Prosper, Texas) wowed judges with their matching Elvis costumes and took home the $500 first prize in the costume contest.
• Amy Ammen of Your Family Pet Radio Show (Milwaukee), decked out in roller skates as 1950s-era carhop, took home the $250 second prize.
• Melissa Cann of Doggie Driving (San Francisco), emulating a 1960s-era protestor, complete with love beads and placards, took the $100 third prize
In addition, Victoria Dauernheim of Haute Diggity Dog (Las Vegas) won $100 in the dance contest. [December 2007 PET AGE]
