Hunte Conference
Promotes Animal Welfare
A record-setting 2,200 professional pet breeders and pet industry
leaders attended the seventh annual Breeders Educational Conference,
held Oct. 13-14 in Joplin, Mo., by The Hunte Corp. (Goodman,
Mo.).
Speakers at the two-day conference included Dr. Carmen Battaglia,
president and chief executive officer of the American Kennel
Club’s Companion Animal Recovery program (Raleigh, N.C.);
Dr. Pamela Fonti of Royal Canin USA (St. Charles, Mo.); Ed
Kunzelman, chairman and chief executive officer of Petland
Inc. (Chillicothe, Ohio); Dr. Gerryll Hall of Schering-Plough
Animal Health (Summit, N.J.); Dr. John Sessions of Pfizer
Animal Health (New York); and Marshall Meyers, executive vice
president and general counsel of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory
Council (Washington).
“Breeders are optimistic about the future of the pet
industry, and they take very seriously their commitment to
excellence and humane animal care. That was clearly demonstrated
by the record-setting attendance,” said Andrew Hunte,
founder and chief executive officer of The Hunte Corp.
The conference also included exhibits by numerous pet food,
pet supply and veterinary supply companies, several national
pet registries, professional breeder associations, national
trade associations, and government agencies.
The eighth annual Breeders Educational Conference will be
held Sept. 28-29, 2007. For more information, call 800-829-4155,
