U.K.’s Pet Care Trust Announces Awards
The Pet Care Trust, an industry organization based in Bedford, England, presented its inaugural Pet Industry Awards to top manufacturers, retailers and groomers during Glee 2009, held Sept. 20-22 in Birmingham, England.
“The Pet Care Trust has launched these awards to celebrate those businesses that go the extra mile to help the public to care for their pets,” said Steve Fowler, event committee chairman.
Beaphar UK, a Suffolk, England, company that distributes a full line of pet products to 86 countries worldwide, was named Manufacturer of the Year.
Bath Pet Centre, a full-line pet store in Bath, was named Pet Retailer of the Year.
Posh Paws Dog Grooming, located in Bedfordshire, England, and run by Sue Kemp, a member of GroomTeam England 2008, was named Grooming Business of the Year.
Margaret Renton-Ferris received the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award. Renton-Ferris was the first female member of The Pet Trade Association, which became the Pet Care Trust. There, she was the primary instigator of the organization’s educational program. In addition, she has run a quarantine kennel, pet shop and grooming parlor. “Having dedicated over 60 years of her life to the pet care industry, Margaret was an obvious choice for the judges,” the Pet Care Trust said in a news release.
The awards were presented in association with United Kingdom’s Pet Business World News and were sponsored by Nestle Purina PetCare Co., headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland.
