Petland Recognizes Top Franchise Operators and Employees
Petland Inc. (Chillicothe, Ohio) honored its best franchise operators and employees during its 40th anniversary trade show, held Aug. 4-7 at Walt Disney World’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort near Orlando, Fla. Winners included:
Stores of the year: Darcy and Donna Howen of Rockford, Ill., stores larger than 5,000 square feet; and Karin and Brad Logan of Henderson, Nev., stores smaller than 5,000 square feet (their third consecutive win in this category).
International store of the year: Glenda Stride of Grande Prairie, Alberta (her third consecutive win in this category).
Vanguard Awards for excellence in first-year operation: Janet and Dan Star of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; Tony and Kim DeLibero of Sterling Heights, Mich.; Wendy and Ronald Solsrud in Iowa City, Iowa; and Jessica and Steve Rook of Joplin, Mo.
Nicholas Alexander Progress Awards for showing the most improvement or dedication to progress: Lena Bradbury and Jennifer Ferency of Terre Haute, Ind.; Jeff Koury of Pittsburgh; and Lauren Nie and her sons, Jordan and Josh, of Georgetown, Texas.
Quest Awards for the development of community service programs: Beth and Don Popham of Columbus, Ga.; Cindy and Todd Parks of Charlotte, N.C.; and Gladys, Michael, Robert and Winnie Strachan of Omaha, Neb.
Jules Masuda of Charlotte, N.C., was named general manager of the year. Joshua Castro of Hoffman Estates, Ill., was named sales manager of the year. Denise Cassidy of Iowa City, Iowa, was named inventory control manager of the year. John Bender of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., was named fish department manager of the year. Erica Quinones of Fort Wayne, Ind., was named kennel manager of the year. John Generali of Georgetown, Texas, was named pet counselor of the year.
