Petland Honors Top Stores
Petland Inc. (Chillicothe, Ohio) recognized dozens of outstanding stores and employees during its 2009 trade show, held July 30-Aug. 2 in Boca Raton, Fla.
Winners included:
- Store of the year: Dwight and Cathy Burke of Ashland, Ky.
- International store of the year: Petland South Trail, part of the Calgary Group in Calgary, Alberta.
- Vanguard Awards for excellence in first-year operation: Mike and Lisa Roberts of Hilliard, Ohio; and James Daack of Roseville, Calif.
- Nicholas Alexander Progress Awards for showing the most improvement or dedication to progress: Rich Astle and Brad Hampson of Fairless Hills, Pa.
- Quest Awards for the development of community service programs: Ron and Wendy Solsrud of Iowa City, Iowa; Freddie Lagnese of Marietta, Ohio; Ethan Eyler and Marcia Eyler of Dayton, Ohio; and Petland Canada Inc. in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Kelly Lopez of Orlando, Fla., was named general manager of the year. Kevin Scott of Wichita, Kan., was sales manager of the year. Carly Kanipe of Iowa City, Iowa, was kennel manager of the year. Brian Best of Lewisville, Texas, was fish department manager of the year. Kyle Olson of Columbus, Ohio, was inventory control manager of the year.
