United Kennel
Club Conference Set for October
The United Kennel Club Inc. (Kalamazoo, Mich.), in cooperation
with other leading registries for purebred dogs, will hold its
first Purebred Dog Registry Conference Oct. 4-5 at the Radisson
Hotel in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Designed to promote better cooperation and communication
among the leading registry organizations, the conference will
bring together representatives of numerous all-breed registries
as well as several major single-breed organizations.
“The competition between purebred dog registries can
at times slip into a pattern of one-upmanship resulting in
an environment that overshadows our true pursuit, which should
be providing owners and their dogs with opportunities to compete
and interact together,” said Wayne R. Cavanaugh, UKC
president. “Our intent in coordinating this conference
was to have the leading dog registries meet and discuss our
common interests and the unique challenges facing our industry.
It’s an opportunity for us to pool our collective knowledge
in an effort to ensure a bright future for purebred dog registration
and events.”
