AKC Offers
Free Vet Visits for Pups
Hoping to help more puppies get off to a healthy start, the
American Kennel Club (New York) is offering all newly registered
puppies a complimentary first veterinary office visit at any
of 2,000 practices enrolled in its veterinary network certificate
program.
The AKC will send certificates for complimentary office visits,
plus a list of participating veterinarians in the registrant’s
area, to new puppy owners when they submit their registration
application and provide an e-mail address. The AKC hopes owners
will register their puppies immediately so they can receive
their certificates in time for the dog’s first vet trip.
“The AKC realizes that it takes a lot of time and research
to select the right purebred puppy for your family, and the
decisions do not stop once your puppy comes home,” said
Debra Bonnefond, director of the AKC veterinary outreach program.
“This program enables us to make new dog owners’
lives a bit easier from the start and to emphasize the importance
of routine veterinary care throughout a dog’s lifetime.”
Newly registered puppies also are eligible for a complimentary
60-day trial of the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan through PetPartners
Inc.
