Petco Honors
Winners
Petco Animal Supplies Inc. (San Diego) honored dozens of its
top vendors as well as more than 35 outstanding stores and store
managers during its annual trade show, held in August in Orlando,
Fla.
Winning vendors, cited for innovation and responsiveness,
included:
• Vendors of the year: Natural Balance Pet Foods Inc. (Pacoima,
Calif.), Precision Pet Products (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Timberline
Live Pet Foods (Marion, Ill.). It was Natural Balance’s
second consecutive award in this category.
• Strategic alliance vendor of the year: Doskocil Manufacturing/Petmate
Pet Products (Arlington, Texas). It was Doskocil’s second
consecutive award in this category.
• Pet services vendor of the year: Hill’s Pet Nutrition
Inc. (Topeka, Kan.). It was Hill’s second consecutive
award in this category.
• Supply chain award: Aspen Pet Products Holdings Inc. (Denver).
It was Aspen’s second consecutive award in this category.
• Best in-store support: Nutro Products Inc. (City of Industry,
Calif.). It was Nutro’s 15th award in this category,
according to Nutro representatives.
• Individual spirit awards: Mark Miller of M&G Partners
(Milwaukee) and Bob Krause of Super Pet/Kaytee Products Inc.
(Elk Grove Village, Ill.).
• Vendor representatives of the year: Chris Armstrong of Wellmark
International/Farnam Pet Products (Schaumburg, Ill.) and Daniel
Hereford of Natural Balance.
• Petco Foundation Award: Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
• Best new or improved product: Carefresh Color Bedding by
Absorption Corp. (Ferndale, Wash.).
• Best new or improved product packaging or display: LM Animal
Farms packaging by The Hartz Mountain Corp. (Secaucus, N.J.).
Store winners included:
• District manager of the year: Alan McVey of District 5-Inland
Empire.
• Store of the year: Enfield, Conn., managed by Lawrence Rinaldi.
• Store of the year-animal care: Cape Girardeau, Mo., managed
by Shane Goodwin.
• Store of the year-community involvement: Totowa, N.J., managed
by David Stefans.
• Store of the year-grooming services: West Hollywood, Calif.,
managed by Stephen Charles. It was the West Hollywood store’s
second consecutive award in this category.
• Petco Foundation Store of the Year: Tulsa-Riverside, Okla.,
