GPS Sales Up, Report Says
A new report highlights shopping trends among the nation’s most affluent consumers.
GPS devices led the pack of fastest-growing product categories among affluent spenders, according to Unity Marketing (Stevens, Pa.), a group that tracks purchases of the nation’s top spenders. Between 2007 and 2008, sales of GPS devices among that group increased 74.5 percent.
Other fast-growing categories were storage and organization products, up 65.6 percent, and outdoor/garden lighting accents, up 40 percent. The findings are included in “The Luxury Report 2009: The Ultimate Guide to the Luxury Consumer Market,” which focuses on the buying and spending habits of the nation’s most affluent shoppers as they pertain to four key categories: home and personal luxuries, automobiles and experiential luxuries, like travel, dining, spa and beauty services. It also highlights historical shifts in the luxury consumer market.
The report also includes eight trends in the luxury market, including the importance of green marketing, how the recession is affecting luxury consumers and how the country of origin of specific products influences luxury consumer to buy.
