Coastal Promotes Bubble Banks to Help Charities
Coastal Pet Products Inc. (Alliance, Ohio) is offering specially designed banks to help independent pet dealers raise money for local animal shelters and charities—and will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of the banks to one of its own favorite causes.
The company says Bubble Banks, available in playful-looking dog and cat styles, have proven to increase donations in all types of stores.
Retailers simply display a Bubble Bank in a high-traffic area—like the cash registers. Donors insert coins into the animal’s mouth and watch the money wind its way down to the bubble belly—or drop paper money directly into the bubble belly. Retailers then send all money collected to their favorite local charity or shelter.
Coastal will display Bubble Banks in its booth at H.H. Backer’s 43rd Annual Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show and Educational Conference, Oct. 2-4 in Rosemont (Chicago), Ill., and will donate a percentage of proceeds from the sale of the banks to the Morris Animal Foundation’s Canine Cancer Campaign.
It’s a cause close to Coastal’s heart: Company owners Jim and Kathy Stout recently lost their Australian shepherd, Bosco, to cancer.
The disease is widespread: One in four dogs over the age of 2 die of cancer. For more information about the Morris Animal Foundation and its work to improve pets’ lives, visit www.morrisanimalfoundation.org.
Banks also are available at www.bubblebanks.com. [August 2009 PET AGE]
