A bill that prohibits individuals or businesses from maintaining more than 75 dogs over the age of 1 year for breeding purposes awaited Gov. Bobby Jindal’s signature at press time.
House Bill 1193 also sets forth kennel license requirements and fees for dog breeders. Individuals or businesses that possess more than five dogs and that breed and sell retail, wholesale or to the public must obtain kennel licenses and pay kennel license fees instead of individual dog licenses and fees.
