Show Producers Form Alliance
Representatives from three leading international pet trade expositions
met in May to lay the groundwork for an alliance that will serve
the pet supplies market and promote responsible pet ownership.
Organizers of Interzoo, SuperZoo and Zoomark International
met May 6 during the Zoomark International show in Bologna,
Italy, to discuss future scenarios and possible challenges
associated with the pet market.
“Our primary objective is to promote pet welfare, which
is the base of the market,” alliance representatives
said in a statement. “The more pets are members of the
households and the better they are cared for, the more the
industry grows. Sharing objectives and positions, we can contribute
to the promotion of responsible pet ownership and consequently
support the industry.”
Alliance members agreed to create a working group that will
develop specific plans to promote the pet supplies industry
and to involve new manufacturers and distributors in their
shows.
Interzoo is produced by Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe
e.V. (Langen, Germany). SuperZoo is produced by the World
Wide Pet Industry Association (Arcadia, Calif.). Zoomark International
is produced by Vimax Srl (Como, Italy). [August 2005 PET AGE]
