More Than 25,000 Visit Aquarama
Aquarama 2005 attracted more than 5,000 industry members and
nearly 21,000 general visitors when it took place May 26-29
at the Singapore Expo in Singapore.
Organized by CMP Asia Trade Fairs Pte Ltd. (Hong Kong), it
was the largest edition of the biennial show to date. International
attendance was 7 percent higher than for the 2003 show.
More than 230 companies from 25 countries exhibited their
aquatic products and services on the 10,000-square-meter show
floor.
Show highlights included a fish competition featuring 1,400
tanks with an array of species from guppies to dragon fish.
New to the competition, the first Singapore International
Betta Competition, which was judged to International Betta
Congress Standards, attracted an overwhelming 540 entries.
A new marine tank competition attracted 20 entries.
InterGarden, a show within a show for the pond and water
garden sector, made its debut this year.
Divided into two sessions—“New Trends and Developments
in the Ornamental Aquatic Industry” and “Import,
Export and Health Regulations Relating to the Ornamental Aquatic
Industry”—the educational program included speakers
from France, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore,
the United Kingdom and the United States. A workshop for members
of the international scientific community tackled “Cichlids:
From Evolution to Genomics.”
A tour of ornamental fish farms covered six aquatic specialties,
including dragon fish, discus and koi.
The next Aquarama will be held May 24-27, 2007, at Singapore
