Zoomark Draws Attendees From 74 Countries
More than 20,000 pet industry professionals from a record 74
countries attended Zoomark International 2005, a biennial exhibition
of products and accessories for pets, held May 5-8 in Bologna,
Italy.
Final attendance figures were not available at press time.
A total of 545 exhibitors participated in the show, up 6
percent from 512 exhibitors for the 2003 show. International
participation also increased: Half the exhibitors (a total
of 276) represented countries other than Italy, compared with
44 percent for the previous show. Seventy percent of the companies
exhibited directly rather than through their Italian distributors,
up from 50 percent in 2003.
The U.S. pavilion drew 64 American manufacturers—the
same number that participated in the 2003 show—making
it the largest foreign contingent at Zoomark. The pavilion
was organized by the American Consulate General and the American
Pet Products Manufacturers Association (Greenwich, Conn).
Coordinated by the China Great Wall International Exhibition
Co. Ltd., a separate Chinese pavilion featured 35 companies.
Zoomark also attracted a delegation of Brazilian companies,
led by ANFAL, the national association of pet food manufacturers
in Brazil.
Show organizers also announced the formation of an alliance
among three international trade shows—Interzoo (Germany),
SuperZoo (United States) and Zoomark—to promote the
pet industry as well as promote responsible pet ownership.
