Petfood Forum Holds Its Own
The Petfood Forum drew 1,000 pet industry experts, including nutritionists, chemists, pet food manufacturers, ingredients suppliers and packagers eager to learn how to grow their businesses.
The four-day event, held April 20-23 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont (Chicago) Ill., by Petfood Industry magazine, featured several high-profile speakers. In the keynote address, Dr. Marty Becker, a best-selling author and nationally renowned veterinarian, spoke about bond between humans and pets as well as ways the pet food industry can use this bond when creating and marketing new products.
Rick Rockhill, vice president of dog consumables for Petco Inc. (San Diego), discussed what retailers are looking for from pet food manufacturers and distributors.
David Lummis, senior pet market analyst for Packaged Facts (New York), provided an outlook for the pet food industry.
After the conference, many attendees stuck around for the Petfood Workshop, a boot camp for people new to the industry and people seeking a refresher course.
The next Petfood Forum will be held April 12-14, 2010, in Chicago. For more information, visit www.petfoodindustry.com. [July 2009 PET AGE]
