PIJAC Elects New Officers
Frank Koch of Natural Balance Pet Foods Inc. (Pacoima, Calif.) was elected chairman of the board of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (Washington) in elections held in conjunction with Global Pet Expo in February.
Koch, a member of the board since 2002, most recently was first vice president of the board.
Jeff Sutherland, president of Breeder’s Choice Pet Foods Inc. (Irwindale, Calif.), succeeds Koch as first vice president. Previously, he was secretary/treasurer of PIJAC’s board.
Ruth Jeffers, vice president of Jeffers Pet (Dothan, Ala.) and representative of the World Wide Pet Industry Association (Monrovia, Calif.), was re-elected second vice president. Paul Norton, president of Norton’s Tampa Bay Fisheries (Ruskin, Fla.) and representative of the Florida Tropical Fish Farms Association (Winter Haven, Fla.), succeeds Sutherland as secretary/treasurer—a job he also held from 2002 to 2004.
In addition, five directors were re-elected to the board: Bill Brant of the Gourmet Rodent Inc. (Archer, Fla.); Bob Merar of General Pet Supply Inc. (Milwaukee); Mark Pustizzi of NEMA Inc. (Arlington, Mass.); Marcie Whichard of Petco Animal Supplies Inc. (San Diego); and Koch. Cedric Danby of PFX Pet Supply Inc. (West Sacramento, Calif.) was elected to fill a distributor vacancy on the board. [June 2009 PET AGE]
