WWPIA Launches PetSource.org
The World Wide Pet Industry Association (Arcadia, Calif.) in February launched PetSource.org, a Web site designed to be a one-stop source of information for consumers and retailers looking for information about all kinds of pets.
“PetSource.org will serve as a common ground for pet lovers and industry professionals to share and read current news and industry trends, plus search for information for their companion pet or local pet store,” said Doug Poindexter, vice president of WWPIA. “Pets are an essential part of today’s families, and WWPIA knows it is necessary for pet owners to have access to the latest news and information on their furry family members. Conversely, industry leaders can now communicate with consumers directly by providing information on their services and stores. PetSource.org will bridge the gap between consumer and industry experts—an essential step for responsible pet care.”
To make it useful as a retail tool, the site features a national Pet Store Locator, allowing retailers to upload information to promote their business to consumers and industry experts. It also offers a comprehensive directory of products, breeders, veterinarians, rescue groups and other services.
To benefit industry professionals, it provides educational seminars, panel discussions, new product showcases and more.
Additionally, the PetSource.org News monthly e-newsletter provides members with timely industry news and local legislative updates.
The site caters to pet lovers with a network for sharing photos and stories of companion animals, and for making friends with other pet enthusiasts. [May 2007 PET AGE]
