SuperZoo Upgrades
As part of an internal reorganization effort, the World Wide
Pet Industry Association (Arcadia, Calif.) established a new
department specifically to increase attendance at SuperZoo,
Sept. 20-22 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
“While we have had a dedicated person to handle exhibitor
space sales, of equal importance is to have a dedicated person
to address attendees and their needs,” said Doug Poindexter,
executive vice president of WWPIA.
Gwen Powell, formerly director of sales for WWPIA’s
consumer shows, was named director of the new trade show attendance
department. Powell, a 30-year veteran of the pet industry,
will contact prospective attendees about registering for the
show, explain how SuperZoo can fulfill their needs and helping
them use the interactive MySuperZoo portal. In addition, she
will serve on the association’s education task force.
In related news, Poindexter said WWPIA will broadcast customized
infomercials featuring SuperZoo exhibitors throughout the
show. Limited to the first 25 exhibitors that sign up, the
advertisements will be shown one per hour on 10 screens placed
at key locations on the floor of the three-day show. According
to show organizers, they will allow exhibitors to reach up
to 8,000 show attendees with either a 90-second infomercial
or a 5-minute interview, or an existing infomercial supplied
to the show.
