China International Pet Show Attracts 25,000
The 12th China International Pet Show, held Nov. 6-9 in Beijing, broke attendance records with 25,000 registrants and 476 exhibitors, according to promoters.
Asia’s top pet supply exhibition received increased support from the Chinese government and also managed to increase its international profile. The number of international attendees was up 30 percent from the previous year. In addition, exhibitors from 18 countries participated.
The rising standard of living in China has benefitted the pet industry, promoters said. Health and luxury products—like pet perfumes—and high-quality European products fared well at the show.
The popularity of the aquarium segment also showed: More than 40 percent of the exhibitors featured aquarium equipment, supplies, fish foods and aquatic plants.
The event was organized by China Great Wall International Exhibitions and Nürnberg Global Fairs (which opened an office in Atlanta in December).
CIPS 2009 will be held Nov. 12-15 in Guangzhou, China. For more information, go to www.nuernbergglobalfairs.com. [March 2009 PET AGE]
