annual writing competition held by the Cat Writers’ Association
(Lancaster, Pa.).

(Capital Books, Sterling, Va.) was best health and care book.
Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul by Amy Shojai,
Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Marty Becker and Carol
Kline (HCI Publications, New York) was best other book.
Cat Fancy, published by Fancy Publications Inc. (Los Angeles),
was best national magazine.
“P’ETiQuette” by Amy Shojai (Herald Democrat,
Sherman, Texas) was best newspaper column.
Catnip, edited by Arden Moore and published by Tufts Media
(Somerville, Mass.), was best national newsletter.
“Cats Without a Home” by Laura Fulda of Humane
Society Silicon Valley and “Your Adopted Cat”
by Eric Theis, Traci Theis, Kellyann Conway, Jeff Yarlett
and Sam Means of PetsIncredible (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) tied
for best DVD production.
Felinexpress.com, edited by Mary Anne Miller, was best online
magazine.
Margaret Bonham won the Iams Responsible Cat Ownership Award
for Bring Me Home! Cats Make Great Pets, published by Howell
Book House (Hoboken, N.J.).
Elissa Wolfson won the Petmate Safe Cat Award for “My
Cat Is Lost,” published in Catnip.
Dusty Rainbolt won the Purina Cat Chow Nutrition Award for
“Dear Hobbes,” published in City and County Pets;
the Purina Kitten Chow Kitten Award for “Gigi’s
New Life,” published in Cat Fancy; and the Sticky Paws
Training Award for “Dear Hobbes: Feline Eye for the
Single Guy,” published in City and Country Pets.
Kim Campbell Thornton won the Purina One Health Award for
“Not Enough Testing for Urinary Woes in Pets,”
published on MSNBC.com.
Katherine Grier and Nancy Peterson won the Tidy Cats Feline
Behavior Award for “Indoor Cats, Scratching, and the
Debate Over Declawing: When Normal Pet Behavior Becomes a
Problem,” published in State of the Animals III: 2005.
Shirley Rousseau Murphy won the World’s Best Cat Litter-ary
Award for Cat Breaking Free, published by HarperCollins (New
York).
Steve Dale won the HSUS Pets for Life Award for his “Pet
Central” radio program, broadcast by WGN radio. [March
