Groomers Compete at NDGAA Event
Education, competition and camaraderie brought more than 700 people and 70 exhibitors to the annual Fun in the Sun seminar and trade show, held Oct. 24-26 in Celebration-Kissimmee, Fla., by the National Dog Groomers Association of America (Clark, Pa.).
Komako Tanaka of Koko’s Paws (Nashville, Tenn.) won Best in Show in Division A. Lindsey Berry of Wag ’N Splash (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) was Best All-Around Groomer. Both awards were sponsored by Double K Industries (Chatsworth, Calif.).
Nicole Kallish had the Best Groomed Dog in Division B, sponsored by Geib/Buttercut Shear Co. (Orlando, Fla.). Yvonne Aitken was Best All-Around Groomer in Division B, sponsored by Blue Ribbon Pet Care (Jacksonville, N.C.).
Leah Fappiano had Best Groomed Dog in Division C and Tina Balance was Best All-Around Groomer. Both awards were sponsored by Groomer’s Helper (Margate City, N.J.).
Speakers included Teri DiMarino, Joanne Russell, Dr. Michael Fleck, Sue Zecco, Jay Scruggs and Judy Hudson.
NDGAA also presented a workshop on what it takes to become a Certified Master Groomer.
Other highlights of the weekend included a Halloween party and the GroomTeam USA fund-raising auction.
NDGAA’s next event is the Carolina Groomfest, scheduled for May 30-June 1 at the Radisson Hotel in Columbia, S.C. Fun in the Sun 2009 is set for Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Orlando, Fla. [February 2009 PET AGE]
