FDA Issues Bioterrorism Guidance
A new edition of a Food and Drug Administration guidance document
to help manufacturers understand record-keeping rules mandated
by the Bioterrorism Act is now available, according to the American
Pet Products Manufacturers Association (Greenwich, Conn.).
”Questions and Answers Regarding Establishment and
Maintenance of Records (Edition 2)” helps manufacturers
comply with requirements to maintain records that reflect
the immediate previous sources and immediate subsequent recipient
of food, including pet food, treats and supplements.
Compliance deadlines vary depending on the size of the company.
Some businesses were required to be in compliance as early
as Dec. 9, 2005. Additional compliance dates are June 9, 2006,
and Dec. 11, 2006.
