Attendance
Up at Aquaria China
A total of 3,391 trade visitors from around the world attended
the second edition of Aquaria China, held Sept. 7-10 at the
Jinhan Exhibition Centre in Guangzhou, Guangdong, representing
an increase of nearly 10 percent from the 3,083 trade visitors
at the show’s first edition in 2004.
The all-aquatics show served as a showcase for the wares
and services of 103 exhibitors from 13 countries—up
28 percent from 74 exhibitors from 10 countries in 2004. Joined
for the first time by vendors from the Czech Republic, Germany,
Israel and the United Kingdom, nearly half of the show’s
exhibitors were from overseas.
A total of 14,566 consumers attended the event, which was
open to the general public during the last two days, a 14
percent increase from 12,786 visitors in 2004.
“Already, Aquaria China has established its credentials
as China’s only all-aquatic event,” said Linda
Tan, senior project manager for CMP Asia Trade fairs Pte.
Ltd., which organizes the show. “It is, like its Singapore-based
sister show, Aquarama, a unique one-stop exhibition with all
sectors of the industry represented under one roof. Even as
this edition closes, we are already focusing on 2008, which,
we are certain, will take the show another significant step
forward.”
A tour of farms and factories in Guangzhou and surrounding
areas provided insight into the growing status of this region
as China’s main fish-producing and manufacturing center.
A panel of international speakers presented seminars in Chinese
and English to full classrooms.
On the competitive side, a panel of 20 experts from 13 countries
judged the show’s international fish competition. Winning
entries in dragonfish, discus, flower horn fish, goldfish,
guppy and betta categories received trophies and special awards.
Other highlights included a new InterGarden section, featuring
a large water garden display designed by top names in outdoor
aquatics.
