New Dog Registry
Coalition Formed
Dog registries from across the country gathered in Kalamazoo,
Mich., last October to discuss ways to protect and promote dog
owner interests, according to the newly formed United States
Canine Registries.
Collectively representing more than 300 breeds of dogs and
more than a million dog owners, several registries came together
for the first time to address common goals as well as develop
efficiencies of scale “to support and strengthen the
role of dogs and responsible ownership in traditional and
contemporary lifestyles.”
During the two-day conference, attendees discussed issues
such as anti-dog legislation, radical animal rights ideologies
and the “disturbing increase in extremist philosophies
toward animal ownership found in America’s current legislative
environment,” according to a press release issued by
the fledgling organization.
Additional meetings are scheduled for February and July.
