Superior Animal Care Touted at Hunte Conference
More than 1,200 professional pet breeders and pet industry leaders
attended the sixth annual breeder’s educational conference
held Oct. 14-15 in Joplin, Mo., by Hunte Corp. (Goodman, Mo.).
In the keynote address, Dr. Carmen Battaglia, president and
chief executive officer of the American Kennel Club’s
Companion Animal Recovery program (Raleigh, N.C.), discussed
practices involved in breeding better dogs.
Other speakers at the two-day conference included Frank Difatta,
president of Petland Inc. (Chillicothe, Ohio); Dr. Denise
Elliott of Royal Canin USA (St. Charles, Mo.); Dr. Shane Brookshire,
state veterinarian for Missouri; and Dr. David Sabala of the
U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health
Inspection Service.
The conference, which included exhibits by various pet food,
pet supply and veterinary supply companies, several national
pet registries, trade associations and government agencies,
is the largest educational meeting for professional pet breeders
in the United States.
Attendees also got to visit Hunte’s state-of-the-art
distribution and retail facility. Its grand opening was held
in conjunction with the conference.
