Pet Store Pro, the free online training program created by the Pet Industry Distributors Association, introduced new content designed to help pet store owners develop, manage and promote effective and profitable customer loyalty programs.

The two new interactive, self-paced courses are available free to qualified pet retailers at www.petstorepro.com.

“Managing Customer Loyalty Programs” teaches pet store owners and managers strategic ways to use reward programs to strengthen customer connections and grow business. Management-level topics include identifying the program types and components that are right for your store, enhancing an existing program, developing a rollout plan and ongoing management schedule and using purchasing data to build customer relationships and target marketing.

“Customer Loyalty Program Fundamentals” focuses on the key role that front-line associates play in a loyalty program’s success, including operational tasks and employee buy in. Lessons teach associates how to promote your store’s program, answer customer questions, enroll shoppers, and process loyalty transactions and rewards.

“Independent pet stores are key to the success of our industry,” Steve King, PIDA president, said. “Pet Store Pro’s new customer loyalty courses are designed to help pet retailers foster long-term customer relationships and increase sales. Retailers will learn how to gain insights into customer purchasing behaviors that they can use to improve ROI on marketing spending and make better business decisions.”

The new customer loyalty chapters expand Pet Store Pro’s online curriculum to 23 courses, each developed specifically for independent pet retailers by pet experts. Since February 2008, more than 17,700 pet store owners, managers and sales associates from have registered.
