A voluntary recall is in effect for an estimated 6,000 Kurgo bike baskets due to the falling risk posed if the plastic clamp breaks and detaches from a bicycle’s handlebars.

Consumers are asked to immediately remove and discontinue use of the product. They can register online to return their product and receive a $75 Kurgo gift card at www.kurgo.com/product-safety.

Kurgo issued the recall in response to 10 reports of the plastic clamps breaking. No serious injuries have been reported.

“We value our customers and are committed to providing products that meet our high quality standards” said Kitter Spader, Kurgo’s co-founder and head of product development. “Providing products that are safe for dogs and their owners, continues to be our number one priority.”

The Kurgo Skybox Bike Basket was sold at Petco, Pet Valu and other pet product retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada and online from September 2013 through August 2015.

The baskets with P.O. numbers 2068, 3176 and 3304 are included in the recall. The P.O. numbers can be found stitched on the back of the “Play!” tag located inside the basket, above the zipper pocket.
