Friends in High Places

I have been in this industry for 31 years. That is longer than the age of the youngest Pet Age employee. I know the ins and outs, the highs and lows and most importantly, the people.

I have made a lot of friends in this business and I think the pet industry produces more interesting people than any other trade. That is why I love this time of the year. With the two major tradeshows under my belt already, I am reminded over and over again of the relationships I have been able to obtain and then maintain after so many years.

And it isn’t just friends who I get to see at these shows; it is animal friends as well. Part of the fun of the pet shows is seeing everybody’s special pets. I even saw a pig in Las Vegas! I have met so many pets over the years and it warms my heart to be in an industry that encourages such a special bond.

That is why our publication is so important. I want to take care of my friends and help my friends take care of their pets. Each month, we get to talk about new products that help keep pets healthy and happy. I love my friends at the small animal companies who help me and my daughter take such good care of our rabbit, Pepper, with products and very useful information. And that is what we want to provide to retailers who can then provide to pet owners.

In fact, thanks to our friends in the industry, we have begun an amazing social media campaign, #FridayFreebie that allows retailers to try products before stocking them! Follow us on Twitter and Instagram and like us on Facebook to participate. We love hearing from our subscribers.

In closing, please consider us more than a magazine. Consider us a friend.
