Hartford, Connecticut will be the site of the first-ever Ferret Shelter Forum on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

There are over 100 individual ferret rescue groups across the USA. While an increasing number of regional humane societies and animal control facilities also accept and place ferrets, the backbone of ferret rescue over the past 25 years has been small shelters operated by volunteers, often out of their own homes.

Designed to bring together rescuers to meet, network, and learn, the day-long event will feature Nonprofit Basics, Fundraising, Surviving Being a Home-Based Shelter and Ferret Adoption Best Practices workshops.

The event will be hosted by the Ferret Association of Connecticut, a nonprofit celebrating their 25th anniversary, at The Lyceum in Hartford. Sponsors of the Ferret Shelter Forum include Performance Foods, Inc., and the Petco Foundation and Edith J. Goode Residuary Trust have donated funds to assist shelter travel expenses.
