The winners of the twenty-seventh Annual Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards were awarded at the SuperZoo pet retailer trade show at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. For the first time in the history of the event, winners of the award each received a cash prize of $1,000 along with their Crystal obelisk trophy.

Sponsored by Cardinal Pet Care, the Cardinal Crystal Awards celebrate the best and the brightest in the competitive pet grooming industry with awards in six different categories.

This year’s American Groomer of the Year Award was won by Lindsey Dicken, a national certified professional groomer from Altamonte Springs, Fla. Best known for grooming Bichon Frises, Dicken has won numerous grooming awards in the past, including World Champion Poodle Groomer, Intergroom’s American Groomer of the Year and last year’s Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Award for Groomer of the Year.

Groomers for Groomers Fund was this year’s recipient of the David G. Salzberg Award, presented annually to the individual or organization who makes outstanding contributions to competitive grooming and groomers in general. Groomers for Groomers fund is an organization where groomers can help other industry members by donating cash or items so that they can be auctioned off in order to help groomers in need. The organization has helped many groomers in need after tornados hit Moore, Okla. and continues to perform this service.

“The Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards have become an institution in the grooming industry, showcasing the accomplishments of groomers who have worked hard to boost their levels of expertise in the industry,” said Barbara Denzer, vice president of marketing for Cardinal Pet Care. “The winners of the twenty-seventh Annual Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards are extraordinary individuals and organizations that have displayed exceptional expertise, creativity and social responsibility, benefiting both the pet-owning public and grooming trade. We are honored to showcase and present the winners with the awards and congratulate them for this well-deserved accomplishment.”

Other winners of the Annual Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards include Stephen Kropf, International Groomer of the Year, Scott Wasserman, Grooming Contest Judge of the Year Award, Sue Zecco, Congeniality Award and Lisa Leady, Mobile Groomer Award.
