In continued partnership with Animal Behavior College (ABC), Andis Company has awarded Laura Gong from Vacaville, California, the brand’s second Andis Groom Nation scholarship to ABC’s Certified Pet Grooming Program.

“As a company, we’re committed to empowering groomers at all stages, and are proud to offer a second Groom Nation Scholarship to aspiring professionals,” said Megan Mouser, Andis Animal Education manager. “Proper education is the key to long-term success, and we hope these scholarship opportunities jumpstart a successful career in this growing industry. We want to congratulate Laura, and look forward to following her work as a Certified Groomer.”

More than 160 applications from around the country were submitted and reviewed by a panel of grooming experts. Gong was selected for her current involvement in the animal community and volunteer work around the world. After donating her time to PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) in Japan at the Yokosuka Naval Base and the Hawaii Humane Society, Laura now works as a bather in the pursuit of her dream to receive a Master Groomer Certification. Once certified, she plans to open her own business and partner with local shelters to groom animals for adoption. The Andis Groom Nation Scholarship will be the first step in transforming Gong’s passion into a profession.

“I am very honored and grateful to have been chosen for the Andis Groom Nation Scholarship amongst other qualified applicants!” Gong said. “Opportunities such as this do not come around often, and I am excited to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a groomer. This scholarship will open many doors in the future, and I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions and not be afraid to go after what they truly love.”
